The cutoff for all courses will be 4.00pm (9 hours from the start of the Marathon event).

There will be a comprehensive traffic management plan in progress throughout the event which will involve various road closures. You will be running on a combination of closed roads and very wide footpaths.
Is the course open to Wheelchairs, bicycles, recumbent bikes, roller blades, prams/buggies, or skateboards?
No. Unfortunately the course is not conducive to these modes of transport. However prams and buggies will be allowed on the 6km and 10.5km courses.
Can i wear headphone while participating in the event?
Yes, you’re allowed to wear headphones for this event. From a safety perspective, they create a large amount of distraction from all that might be going on around you, other participants (who might need help), vehicles, marshals that are giving you directions etc. If you decided you require them, we would recommend having only one ear piece in and on a very low volume.
Is tHE Tauranga International marathon iffa certified?
Our intention is certainly to have the course IAAF Certified. Unfortunately there has been a large slip on the Mount Maunganui base track which is prohibiting us from getting an accurate measurement of this section at present. The council/parks are working hard to get this repaired asap because as you can imagine, it is a very popular track for day to day use also. There are early indications it will be repaired in time for an accurate measure however we cannot guarantee this for the 2017 event unfortunately.
WIll the mauao base track be open in time fo the event?
Good news, the base track around Mauao (The Mt) is open. Not so good news….. because of the severity of the land slide a temporary by-pass will be in place for this year’s event while construction on a permanent solution is completed. The bypass track will involve stairs up, a track across the top of the slip and stairs down on the other side. What this means is this year’s course will be ever so slightly less Flat and Fast than what we planned, but JUST AS FUN!!
